This 120,000 square
foot, four story building serves as the new Data/Call Center
for Sovereign Bank. The new building is known as Sovereign
Plaza and sits on property that is at the center of Reading
and the crossroads of Berks County. In order for the
construction of this project to be completed, the City of
Reading agreed to the demolition of seven existing buildings
that had been in disrepair for many years. The site sits
between Penn and Cherry Streets and runs along South Fifth
Street. The building houses offices, a data processing
center, data storage areas, and two floors for a call center
telephone operations center. The site will also provide
secured, off-street parking and a pedestrian walkway between
Penn and Cherry Streets.
